Jack Burke was born and raised in the Detroit area.

He attended Michigan State University and received an Eli Broad Professorial Assistantship as a freshman, where he was responsible for editing Law Review articles. With classes in Business Law and Public Policy, he graduated from the MSU’s Honors College and also graduated with Honors based on his academic performance.

Jack continued his legal education at Wayne State University Law School, where he was offered an Academic Merit Scholarship. He was selected to be an Associate Editor for the Journal of Law in Society, based on his legal research and writing skills. He also worked in Wayne State’s Free Legal Aid Clinic, a student-run organization helping low income clients with Family Law and Estate Planning matters.

He started working with Derrick George as an undergraduate over a decade ago on International Trade issues.

Between college and law school, Jack was a clerk at a local law firm that handled civil litigation, criminal cases, and bankruptcies. During law school, he also clerked at a title insurance company, handling claims and a variety of other issues.

Since then, he followed his father into Real Estate, gaining experience in both residential and commercial transactions, brokerage issues, and independent contractor agreements. He learned a lot working with his father at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices HWWB, including client-centered customer service.

Jack also made time for the community, providing pro bono legal services through Lakeshore Legal Aid.  He gained experience in a broad range of issues from Landlord-Tenant to expungements and Secretary of State Driver’s License Restorations.
